Abstract

The history of sport in Italy has developed considerably in the last few years. And yet, whenever a historian is called upon to comment on the subject, the first thing he or she does is to preface it by pointing out that Italy is lagging behind. A delay that is also the result of the scant attention paid to the reflections that other disciplines have made on the subject.
